Even if you are a furniture designer, balancing form and function is no easy feat. You have to ensure that a product not only provides loads of functionality but also offers a strong visual appeal to the user. Joao Teixeira is one such designer who has apparently gained expertise in this field and designs furniture that is not just aesthetically pleasing but also practical. Void lounge chair is the latest creation of the Portuguese designer that is garnering a lot of attention over social media.

The chair is seen embracing an origami-inspired outline to attain its unusual shape. The interesting aspect of the whole design is its making. It is crafted from a single piece of plywood. It is then bent at different places to form its seat, legs, base, and backrest. Another intriguing aspect of the chair is its side pockets that allow users to slide in some books, magazines, or a charger.

The pockets are tucked into the void between two legs which makes the material within hands reach. The integration of storage without compromising the product’s strength is really commendable and makes it a perfect furnishing to adorn your living room.

The choice of material – Plywood in this case- is selected primarily because it adds volumetrics and generates the ease of creating a continuous and singular shape. Void Chair ensures to elevate any interior setting but seems like a perfect fit for libraries, waiting areas, and bedrooms.

The process of making this attractive chair is kept simple, wherein a large sheet of plywood is heated, smoothly bent, and sculptured to its original form. You can bring home a piece of style and storage with Void Chair providing convenience and organization to its consumers. On a little downside, the chair is just a rendering for now, and not available for purchase.
