Old habits die hard; but if there is one habit that should prevail with me for a lifetime is the scouring for new tiny houses every day. Having said that, today I introduce you to the West Coast Cottage tiny house. Designed by Style & Grace Homes, the tiny house is inspired by the beautiful Douglas fir and cedar trees found in Vancouver Island, which also make the exterior of the dwelling.

“We love using local wood in our homes, from the floor to the ceiling,” mentions the company, resulting in cedar siding cladding for the exterior. Inside the house, the trim, stairs, railings, and hardwood floors are made of fir. The layout is accoutered with windows and glazing, allowing light and air to flood the space.

The house features a living room, loft bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. The living room can fit a six-foot-long sofa and a couple of chairs, where you can sit and enjoy the view outside from the French doors. A wall-mounted TV can be outfitted in the space, along with a banquette. Not to mention, the skylight above keeps the interior light-filled.

Nearby is the kitchen that features 17-inch gorgeous live-edge epoxy countertops with tons of cabinets. It also includes a large double sink, a full-size propane fridge, and a stove alongside a bar seating area. Elsewhere, we find the bathroom of the tiny home that can be accessed via a beautifully restored 100-year-old barn door.

Featuring a 36-inch vanity, the bathroom has adequate space to host a large wardrobe area, a flush toilet, a stackable washer and dryer, and a custom shower. “The shower is a mix of tile and glass and has a one-of-a-kind epoxy shower pan that makes you feel like you’re at the beach and looking up at the sun through the skylight above,” states Style & Grace Homes.

Then we have a loft bedroom that is brimming with light, courtesy of multiple windows and skylights. It can easily fit a double bed and sleep two people. Overall, the West Coast Cottage house is perfect for singles, couples, and even for someone seeking tranquility in the wild of Vancouver.
