France-based interior lighting firm Woodlabo designs rustic light fixtures out of wood harvested from European sustainable forests. Its in-house designer Gaël Wuithier crafts uniquely-shaped LED lighting keeping in mind their vital suitability for outdoors. From total six wood lighting collections, the shape and design of five collections including Eagle, Orbit, landing, Moon and Lift Off are inspired by the first extraterrestrial spacecraft taking a man to the moon, while conical Apollo wood light fixture’s design concept is derived from Apollo 8’s command module.

All the analogous wood light collections consist of five lights, and the other model has three lights with varied size. For Eagle lighting collection, Woodlabo re-imagined former spacecraft’s structure and turned it into the sculptural eagle-shaped light. On the other hand, the remaining four lighting collections combine two or three modules to represent mission’s four stages. The Apollo collection looks like a glittering wooden chandelier that has been made by joining twelve wooden spokes with two aluminum discs.

The birch plywood lighting structures with aluminum light enclosures provide enough stability and keeps the overall structure easy-to-handle. The plywood panels are joined a few millimeters apart for letting the illumination out to brighten the space elegantly. When connected to 18 W power source, all ceiling light fixtures produce 128 lumens of light and last for up to 50,000 hours.
