Sonos, one of the world’s leading sound experience brands has launched its new smart soundbar with Dolby Atmos support.  Dubbed Sonos Arc, it offers multi-directional, cinema-quality sound and has multiple voice assistants for convenience. Aside from TV and gaming, it can also be used to play music, podcasts, and radio when the TV is off.

If compared with Sonos’ earlier Playbar and Playbase soundbars, the Arc boasts a number of big upgrades in terms of design, output, and technical features. Have a brief look at all the important features below:

Design

The Sonos Arc features a slim profile and minimalist design with 270-degree rounded plastic grill in front. There is a LED in front that indicates the status of the speaker and microphone and adjusts itself according to the ambient light of the room to be visible but not distracting.

Measuring 3.4H x 45W x 4.5D inches, the Sonos Arc weighs 14 lbs and is designed with TVs larger than 49-inches in mind. It can be placed in front of the TV or mounted on a wall and comes in a choice of black and white colors in matte finish.

Sound

With Arc soundbar you will be able to experience shows, movies, and games with immersive sound of Dolby Atmos. It has 11 class-D digital drivers, including two upward-firing drivers in order to create a multi-dimensional soundstage and more bass.

Created in partnership with Oscar-winning mixing engineers, the Arc soundbar automatically adjusts its sound profile according to the home theater set-up and the type of audio format. Furthermore, the Trueplay tuning technology dynamically optimizes the sound to the unique acoustics of a room.

The users can also adjust the bass, treble, and loudness through EQ settings in the app. There are also audio features like Speech Enhancement for crystal clear dialogue and vocals, and Night Sound to temper loud noises during night time.

If you want to lift up sound experience, there are options to wirelessly connect Sonos Sub and a pair of One SL to the Arc soundbar.

Connectivity and controls

It has a single connection through HDMI eARC or ARC or the optical-to-HDMI adapter can be used for Dolby Digital decoding. Users will be able to control the Arc using a TV remote, and the new Sonos app, as well as voice commands to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It also supports Apple AirPlay 2 so you can stream music from your iPhone or iPad too.
