Back in 2015, Canada-based industrial designer Mitch Thompson has successfully crowd-funded its Bluetooth-enabled Aumi smart nightlight and over again he has come up its upgraded version Aumi Mini. As of functionality, there are huge differences in shape, connectivity, and other internal features. Aumi Mini can be plugged into any USB port as a nightlight and can also notify you for important occasions through light notifications. It is IFTTT-compatible so you can create your recipes to trigger alerts for weather, smart locks, calendar, social media mentions, important emails, thermostat etc. Just plug into the USB port, connect to your home network and set up light alerts for the compatible apps and smart devices at home.

This Wi-Fi-enabled nightlight doubles as notification light with 16 million color options. It comes with individually addressable LEDs to offer different types of effects. Its companion mobile app can be used to manage colors, set timers, light density and other features. To the front of the smart notification light, there is touch-sensitive input that can be used to reset the device, turn off a notification manually or trigger an event. The design team has added account settings to the app so that users can restore to previous settings in case power is lost. Motion detection feature is also not included in the smart notification light.

Aumi Mini doesn’t have a battery so you can’t take it outdoors, but of course, you can connect it to standard USB adapters as a smartphone-controlled nightlight that can keep you updated with emails, social media, and other important reminders through light notifications. If you wish to have this smart notification light at home then back its crowd-funding campaign at Kickstarter for just US$20 to get one in December 2017.
