In search of a classic lamp for the renowned lighting brand Lodes, the talented Italian design duo Carolina Martinelli and Vittorio Venezia, collectively known as Martinelli Venezia, designed the Aurea glass lamp that explores the relationship between light and matter. The luminaire features an effortless, fountain-like form that doesn’t act as an extra in the environment but moves through it like its own entity.
The inspiration behind Aurea is the delicate relationship between physical glass and invisible light waves. Defined by its transparent form, the lamp is an interplay of the absence and presence of light. It gradually unveils itself when switched on and otherwise sits quietly in the space. It draws a volume in the air without adding any visual weight to the surroundings.
The lamp makes the light the main character while the structure remains secondary. The transparent structure takes center stage when light passes through it, transforming the otherwise invisible form into a visual aesthetic.
Instead of seeing a harsh bulb, the light seems to grow from deep within the glass itself. This clever design distributes a smooth, comfortable glow that fills the room without ever casting harsh shadows or hurting your eyes.
The base of the lamp is offered in a striking contrast with a black finish. This preserves the lamp’s visual lightness while supporting the diffuser, which is a blend of materiality and transparency. The base features an integrated touch dimmer that helps adjust the light intensity with a gentle tap of your finger.

Owing to its simple and clean look, Aurea acts like a chameleon in interior design. It serves as an eye-catching centerpiece on a modern living room sideboard, a comforting presence on a bedroom nightstand, or a welcoming beacon in boutique hotel lobbies, high-end restaurants, and peaceful office lounges where a warm and inviting atmosphere is needed.
The designers successfully created the Aurea glass lamp to feel weightless, ensuring it never crowds a room or disrupts the existing decor, but instead enhances the space with sheer elegance.
