Located on the outskirts of Banos, La Casa Verde is an eco-friendly guest house owned by a New Zealand-based couple. With an intention to live the life of their dreams, the Greenshields family bought this house in 2015 and started renovated the old building with help of their friends. This eleven-bedroom eco-lodge is surrounded by a variety of flora and fauna complete with mesmerizing views of the nearby Rio Pastaza, a large tributary of Amazon River. La Casa Verde is the winner of ‘Tripadvisor’s ‘Traveler’s Choice‘ in multiple categories for the last 5 years in a row.

Equador is facing fresh water crisis for years, but after the recent earthquake, the situation has gone to a worse state. Keeping in mind these circumstances, this lodge has been made to minimize its footprint on the surrounding environment. Using sustainable living practices, they encourage tourists to reduce, reuse, recycle and further help in waste management to keep the place clean and green.

In their long voyage of hosting eco-tourists at the lodge, the couple focused on replanting native trees, maintaining the garden, avoiding chemically-based fertilizers and generating energy through hydro-electricity. Despite eco-friendly endeavors, there are spacious rooms with large windows to provide uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape and to experience optimal comfort.

On the outside, there is large deck area with hammocks and chairs to relax and enjoy some moments in open-air. With so much positive reviews on TripAdvisor, this eco-friendly house is the best place to stay out of the town Banos around amazing vegetation and wildlife.

Right now, the couple has moved to Doubtless Bay, Northland, so they are selling it through a raffle draw to give equal chances to all those who dreams to live in a sustainable home but are not able to afford it.

To take part in the contest, you need to buy their debut e-book ‘Back to Earth‘ for US$29 and with every e-book purchase; one raffle ticket will be given as participation for the draw.

On April 29 at 9 PM GMT, one lucky winner will be chosen on Facebook Live, so it is good chance to be a part of eco-tourism.
