BeoPlay, the brand of Danish consumer electronics company Bang & Olufsen that deals in portable audio products has just launched M3, a wireless multi-room speaker to take on Sonos, the most-hyped brand in the niche market. B&O Play M3 follows the design silhouette of M5 by featuring anodized aluminum and exchangeable front covers made of blended lamb-wool fabric by Danish textile company Kvadrat. It supports Chromecast, Apple Airplay, Bluetooth, and Beolink Multi-room audio to allow users choosing their own platform to play music wirelessly.

The Beoplay M3 has a single 3/4-inch tweeter and a 3.75-inch woofer to produce sound in the frequency range from 65 to 22,000Hz. It measures 11.2 (W) x 15.1 (H) x 14 (D) cm and weighs 1.46 Kg. You can control all settings through the companion mobile app. When compared to other multi-room speakers, it hasn’t got much exciting features, but just the exchangeable front covers to match with different types of interiors and the multiple connectivity options for users. When choosing portable speakers for home, you do have to maintain the style and this is where it can benefit the buyers.

The Beoplay M3 multi-room speaker is currently available in two colors: natural (light grey) and black, with extra covers costing between €59 (US$70) for fabric, or €69 (US$81) for aluminum versions.
