It is not every day that we come across pool cleaning robots. However, iRobot is one such specialized company that has already released their Verro 500 model, a tread based robot touted to clean in-ground pools under 3 hours. And, now fast forwarding to CES 2013, the same creators are about to follow it up with their Mirra 530, a modified version of Verro with a slew of advanced attributes.

One of the major changes from the previous Verro model is the inclusion of  a set of large wheels instead of the tank like tracks. This measure according to the designers would allow the Mirra to traverse the walls and the grounds of the pool more flexibly.

However, the most crucial design consideration is the complete overhauling of the pump and filtration functions. In this regard, the bantam contraption is integrated with a self-contained pump to vacuum and filter obtrusive substances like dirt and leaves from the pool. So, basically it is a time saving yet cost effective mechanism that allows the Mirra to clean your pool in under one hour (as opposed to Verro’s three).

Furthermore, in line with those modern robotic vacuum cleaners, the Mirra can intelligently map out its very own cleaning route; and that too without getting tangled in its cord. This certainly improves upon the scope of practicality, especially when you are on your day long work schedule or picnic trips. And finally, as for the pricing, the figure is set around $1,300 for this pool cleaning automaton.
