A table lamp must serve two purposes: it has to look pleasing and match the room’s ambiance. Most of all it should illuminate the space aptly. A lamp is no more than junk if it provides lighting, but appears out of place in the space. The looks must go with the function! This is exactly what the Los Angeles-based young designer Chris Granneberg believes. The brilliant artist with significant experience of working with Karim Rashid and PepsiCo, recently designed an awe-inspiring table lamp called Ballon, which offers dramatic and soft diffusion of light to compliment the interiors with modern appeal.

The lamp is Chris’s unique vision, and he says;

I wanted to develop something neutral that could fit in multiple interiors, from mid-century to modern. I was inspired by Achille Castiglioni and George Nelson’s lamps and applied some of those ideas into a modern zeppelin form. I hope it has a warmth and neutrality that’s a calming presence in any kind of room.

Designed for Gantri (a line of unique table lights by modern designers) in California, the distinctive lamp is influenced by the mid-century modern style. Gantri uses 3D printed digital production technique, which helps designers in producing lamps quickly and efficiently without the use of any support material. This is the reason Ballon took less than two months in production, including its introduction in the market.
