Welcome aboard the DC-6 airplane house, the most loved and coolest Airbnb that you might have come across in a while. Spread over 750 square feet, this unique house comes to life as a conversion from a McDonnell Douglas DC-6 cargo plane.

With a history of flying in skies across the globe, the cargo plans now finally rest in Wasilla, Alaska. The project turned out to be the brainchild of a passionate pilot, Jon Kotwicki, who envisioned and brought his thoughts to life.

The plane’s exterior remains unmarred with few visible modifications near the wing area. From within, the aircraft has been fully re-shaped with contemporary furniture to make space for two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, a bathroom and some extra space for necessities.

You enter through the aircraft’s cargo door into the mud room that houses a full–size washer and dryer. With plenty of room to explore, the airplane doors open wide and large making way for a long hallway that takes you to the dedicated living areas within the house.

The bedrooms have space for king and queen-size beds with plenty of space around. A kitchen with modern appliances and plenty of storage ideas sits right next to it. A nearby bathroom has been well-designed with all life’s necessities onboard.

Wings have been removed from the aircraft and split into sections for transport. A deck with patio furniture and a grill is well placed on the left-hand wing for cooking and enjoying the expansive mountain view. The airplane house can sleep six people in its comfortable bedrooms.

Interestingly, the owner wishes to retain the plane’s originality by keeping the cockpit intact giving the guests a glimpse into the actual operation of flying. It still has the yoke, rudder pedals, throttles, etc in one piece. The coffee table in the living room is a spare tire from a Boeing.

In an endeavor to provide its guests with the actual look and feel, the aircraft has been positioned near a 1,700-foot-long private airstrip. However, the owner shows responsibility and issues a caution message for the guests to adhere to before taking the flight to this unusual aircraft Airbnb experience. You can book a night in this unique stay for an approximate price of $290 per night.
