Who doesn’t like a bonfire when camping out in wilderness or just having a good time with family in your backyard? But the only problem is that one likes to undergo the hassle of collecting wood pieces to keep flames ignited throughout the night. So, how about a single log stove that can provide you effortless campfire all night long?

Well, YouTube user Doogly has come up with an effective way to make a Swedish torch that can stay ignited for a very long time without much effort. However, you need to undergo some prep work for its creation after that you can enjoy the warmth of the one-log bonfire or cook meals over the flames.

Using a chainsaw, you need to make two cuts on a thick log. But make sure the cuts are deep enough, at least halfway through the log, and form an ‘X’ on the top. You can also add more cuts, if you want. Without a chainsaw you won’t be able to make similar thick cuts, plus the resulting log torch won’t be very effective.

Once all the cuts are formed by a chainsaw, fix some newspapers, brush or wine corks into the depths of the log and light them. This way a straight flame facing upwards will be created to keep your warm during winter and also help you in making delicious food when you’re camping.

This Finnish-style log stove is also known as Swedish candle, Canadian candle, Swedish fire torch, or Swedish log stove. You can call it anything you like; it will offer you the same amount of warmth during long winter nights. If you want to try making this DIY log stove for your next camping trip, check out the video below where Doogle has demonstrated how to create the Swedish torch with ease.
