No matter where we see, our eyes are bewildered by how sufficiently spacious this bus conversion is. A couple, Josh and Emily, converted a twenty-year-old skoolie into their lovely and creative tiny home on wheels. We can tell the amount of work and thought they put into it by how exceptionally spacious the bus has turned out. Every little nook is integrated with storage, even the floor. The raised roof is incredible and gives them the freedom of space, more headroom, and plenty of additional storage inside the bus home.

The exterior of this DIY skoolie is pleasing and inviting with multiple windows and a door keeping the insides bright and airy. The interior has a custom Jeep rear bench seat as their driver seat with a maple dash so that the couple can sit together while traveling. We love the herbs they have grown in a raised container in front of the dash, a way to add some spice to their food and home. They also have a cat, which gets a built-in cat litter with a cute little kitty door underneath the herb garden.

Moving ahead, we see a light-filled living area with plenty of storage. There is a convertible sofa that can be turned into a queen-size bed if need be. There is a countertop parallel to the sofa with a tilt-up table space which is Emily’s workstation. A wall-mounted TV keeps them entertained. There are under-counter and overhead cabinets across the sofa for storing their usual go-to items.

Next to the living space is the kitchen – the heart of their DIY skoolie – and it will surely put yours to shame. Only three things we have to say about the kitchen, it is massive, commodious, and a heaven of spices. The couple has an exposed rack full of spices as they love experimenting and trying new recipes.

The kitchen has a countertop on both sides with a bulk of storage. On one side there is a sink, dishwasher, cooktop with a tall storage space, oven, open pantry for spices and vinegar jars, under-counter pantry for their canned goods, and storage cabinets with amazing storage capacity and locking mechanism to keep everything secured and in place. On the other side, there is a full-size refrigerator, a spice rack, and a fold-down table that becomes their breakfast bar and doubles as a cabinet door.

The bathroom is as spacious as it could be with vinyl flooring, a Nebia shower, a style toilet with a black tank below, and a succulent planter as a vanity sink. There is floor storage for a laundry basket and cleaning supplies.

The second half of the bus is divided by a door for privacy and accommodates the bedroom and workspace. It has a bright and comfy bedroom with windows with an insulated cover, some overhead shelves, and an air conditioner on the ceiling. Furthermore, their entire closet consists of little cubbies under the bed and more storage under the floor. At last, there is an office with a workbench and ample storage, where Josh works and brings his ideas to life.

They did all of the work themselves to make this DIY skoolie a genuine replica of their personalities, and it cost them $80,000. We believe it to be worth every penny and hard work, because they did a great job, considering all the comfort and space it comes equipped with. For the energy resource, they have fitted their bus with a 24volt electrical system, with a 640 amp hour battery, and 2400 watts of solar power for a smooth and uninterrupted ride.
