The purpose of any design is to solve common problems of people while enhancing functionality and minimizing material usage. Designed by Sweden-based landscape architecture firm 02landskap for Swedish studio Nola, the Draken bike rack is a pure example of it – where a simple design serves its motive and creates a refined look.

The name Draken originates from Olof Palme’s plats in Gothenburg for where the bike stand was originally designed. The place housed the iconic Cinema Draken which is possibly the inspiration behind the name. Inspired by the architecture of the ’50s, the design of both elements is highlighted with simple and strict lines and fine detailing.

The Draken bike stand features a flowing pattern of arches that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical. If you look closely, you will notice the arched design similar to railings in the homes. You simply lay the bike over the stand and can use the lock if you want.

The designer wanted to create a product that adds value in terms of both aesthetics and function. No complicated forms are used in the bike stand, which simplifies the task of manufacturing and even delivery.

The Draken bicycle stand is designed to attach both large and small bicycles. The Draken furnishing concept also includes a plant guard that frames and protects the lush plants and highlights their shape.
