Gooseneck layout is one of the most ingenious ways to add additional living spaces, when designing tiny houses, without compromising the designated spots for the main floor. A case in point is the Dream Weaver tiny house by Texas-based builder Indigo River Tiny Homes that features a gooseneck living room. A gooseneck living room is something I hadn’t come across and I must admit, it is a fun use of this elevated space.

Forgoing lofts in this particular dwelling, the builder employed a well-thought-out ground-floor plan to include a bedroom, a bright kitchen, a dining area, and a bathroom. The addition of a gooseneck provides an unhindered area to entertain and offers extra sleeping accommodation if needed.

Measuring 40-foot-long, 8.6-foot-wide, and 13.5-foot-high, the tiny house on wheels is based on the manufacturer’s Pioneer model and can be a luxurious home for a travel-loving couple. Built on a triple-axle trailer, the Dream Weaver tiny house features a colorful façade with board and batten siding and a retractable awning. The retractable awning has also become a coveted feature in contemporary micro-dwellings.

A cottage-style door opens into the kitchen clad in baby blue. The kitchen is designed to offer residential luxuries through modern appliances. It features a refrigerator, large apron front sink, dishwasher, two-burner cooktop, microwave, convection oven, range hood, and pull-out pantry. There are plenty of overhead and under-counter cabinets installed to store cooking essentials out of sight.

The kitchen is relatively more compact than other Indigo River models, but it does fulfil the purpose. A dining space is created opposite the cooking area and can seat two to three people.

Another noticeable feature of the Dream Weaver is the absence of an open-floor design. Although layouts without divisions and walls have become popular in recent times, the Dream Weaver advocates the necessity of privacy in each living space including the living room.

The kitchen is flanked by the bathroom and the main-floor bedroom. The bedroom has complete privacy behind a pocket door. It features an abundance of storage in the form of a giant wardrobe. The lift-up bed with two nightstands conceals more storage space. The bedroom has a desk to take care of the work-from-home requirements.

But it is not a common work desk. At first glance, it appears as some storage outfit, which may be partially true as it opens like a horizontal cabinet on friction hinges. One of the doors becomes the work surface where you can keep a laptop, write, or draw. A small ledge is outfitted inside the cabinet to plants, pen stands, or other tiny objects.

The bathroom, on the opposite side, features a tiled shower, vanity sink, toilet, closet, and washer/dryer space underneath the gooseneck stairs. Outside the bathroom, the short flight of steps leads to the gooseneck living room. Usually used as a bedroom, the gooseneck features a big couch, a wall-mounted television, a wall-mounted table, two side tables, and a corner rack. The couch can be swapped for a sofa bed for additional sleeping space.

The Dream Weaver is a customized tiny house and is estimated to cost around $150,000. Other than the standard amenities, this slice of luxury can be outfitted with off-grid features such as solar power, an incinerator toilet, rain catchment, and fresh water-holding tanks.
