The same is apparently the case with Dyson’s latest purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde which didn’t garner much attention, courtesy of the 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum cleaner hogging all the limelight at the Dyson’s Future of Clean Event held in Singapore.
The UK-based company announced a new range of home products at their Singapore event and the $900 purifier was something that left everyone dazzled. While the purifier didn’t gain much traction as the robot vacuum cleaner, it was being hailed as the ‘most powerful and quietest purifier’ by Dyson. But to decipher whether it stands tall to its claim I decided to dig deep into the functionality of the purifier.
As evident by the name, it’s big! Weighing 25.5 lbs and measuring 32.1 inches, the purifier is best suited for professional environments such as offices, classrooms, and hotels. But if you like gloating about the range of accessories at your home, there shouldn’t be any second thoughts about buying this. The Big+Quiet Formaldehyde air purifier comes equipped with double airflow compared to old purifiers by Dyson and boasts upgraded filtration, compressors, and delivery systems.
It not only detects dust and dangerous particles in the air but also eliminates them. The best part, it does all this without producing much noise. “Our latest purifier is acoustically engineered to operate quietly – even at its highest power setting. So it reduces your exposure to pollution, without disturbing you at the office or in the classroom. It records just 55dBA of sound power at full speed,” Dyson states.

In addition to regular features, Dyson Big+Quiet Formaldehyde also has CO₂ sensors that notify the user and drop an alert about when to ventilate on its 1.44-inch LCD screen display. As for the filtration process, it follows the usual three-step filtration system as seen in the Dyson air purifier line-up.
However, there are some minor updates such as the entire system being fully sealed to HEPA H-13 standard to capture 99.97% of pollutants as small as 0.1 microns. Additional features include two airflow speeds for suitable optimization.
