In collaboration with Uncommon Projects, London-based designer Sophie Smallhorn has made her debut into the furniture world with “Combination” tables. As the name suggests, these flat-pack tables can be arranged in a number of combinations as required. You can either combine them as a coffee table or use them individually as a side table. One feature to highlight is the colorful palette of the tables.
Smallhorn originally studied furniture and ceramics but chose to work in sculptures. People who already know her are aware of her affair with colors. She loves a colorful play with sculptures and decided to bring that same colorful flexibility into her modular plywood tables.
The Combination tables are made from FSC-certified birch plywood, with different laminate shades on both of its sides. Smallhorn has explored design possibilities of a 4×8 plywood sheet through these colorful tables. Each unit features a simple and straight design that utilizes the similar sheet with minimum cuts. The dimensions of the tables are also decided according to the plywood sheet to lower the material wastage.
Apart from the modular functionality, the tables boast a vibrant look with plywood sheets of different colors. There is a possibility to arrange the table elements as per your own choice, which means you can choose color for the top and legs as well.

As mentioned earlier, these tables are delivered flat-packed and thus, are easy to ship to various locations. The tables are also easy-to-assemble as all the pieces slot together using knock-down fittings. They also help save space as you can fold them up into a box whenever needed.
A single Combination table measures 17 inches high, 15 inches wide, and 15 inches deep. The modular tables are designed and made in London, completed with hand-finishing and have four differently organized colorways. The Combination tables retail for $500 for one table, $930 for two and $1,600 for four of them.
