Audio brands are now focusing more on wireless audio technology, and the increasing number of wireless hi-fi speakers at HIGH END Vienna signaled the same. French brand Focal is also gradually embracing the trend. The brand introduced its first wireless active speaker system in 2024, which was upgraded last year with a new model named Diva Mezza Utopia. Focal is back with Diva Alta Utopia, touted as the most high-end wireless active speaker system ever designed by Focal & Naim. The speaker combines Focal’s loudspeaker expertise with Naim’s electronics expertise to create an all-in-one high-fidelity audio system.

Powered by seven speaker drivers, each Diva Alta Utopia unit delivers a wide-ranging soundstage. Each speaker features a PRISM inverted dome tweeter, a 13cm reinforced “W” midrange driver, and a 16.5cm “W” cone midbass driver, whereas four 20.5cm “W” woofers are arranged in a push-push configuration to deliver powerful bass, extending down to 20Hz. These drivers are powered by Class AB amplification, delivering up to 600W per speaker, distributed over four dedicated amplifiers. The speaker offers a frequency response of 23Hz-40kHz, with a maximum SPL of 122dB.

What makes this hi-fi speaker system stand out is Focal’s proprietary ‘Prism’ tweeter, which has been used in the Diva Alta Utopia for the first time after nearly 20 years of research and development. This 27mm unit combines multiple materials to offer true acoustic tuning flexibility. Its multilayer diaphragm eliminates micro-distortions to enhance the quality of high frequencies.

This 4-way active speaker system is suitable for spaces from 50 to 120 square meters. Whether used for music or film, it ensures you hear what the artist’s original intention was. Another cool feature that has become common in hi-fi speakers is room calibration. You can adjust its sound reproduction to the room’s acoustics and the user’s preferences using the companion mobile app.

Being wireless, the speaker offers a wide streaming support. As highlighted by What Hi-Fi, the UPnP compatibility allows you to stream digital files across a home network from a NAS unit. It works with the most popular platforms, including Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Qobuz, as well as supporting AirPlay 2 and Google Cast.

For physical connectivity, the speaker includes HDMI eARC, optical, RCA, USB, and Ethernet inputs, allowing you to integrate it with TVs, streaming sources, and home audio setups. The Diva Alta Utopia also uses Focal’s ‘Ultra Wideband’ technology to ensure 24-bit/192kHz wireless support between the speakers.

This wireless hi-fi speaker comes with interchangeable, floating side panels that let you change its look between felt and high-gloss lacquer finishes. Another design element to highlight is the watch-inspired tweeter surround, adding a luxurious feel.

The Focal Diva Alta Utopia is available now, in five finishes: Grey Felt, Ivory Felt, Black High Gloss, Off-White High Gloss, and Dune High Gloss. Pricing starts from a huge $199,999 for felt finishes and $210,000 for high-gloss finishes.
