- Swedish designers Siri Bahlenberg and Sofia Bergfeldt have created Melt and Recreate pendant lamp for amazing user and product interaction. This frozen pendant lampshade is designed to bring the user closer to the creation and witness complete life cycle of a product, while adding visual retreat into a living room.
Designers have cleverly formed the lethal combination of water and electricity for more practical day to day use. The lighting fixture is enclosed within frozen water and illuminated with fine combination of LED lights and fiber optics. LEDs and fiber optics are embedded inside an element that is connected to the electrical supply. LEDs diffuse dim glow through the ice block and light gradually becomes brighter as ice melts.
The frozen lampshade takes about 10 hours for slowly dripping into its mold, so the user can refreeze it again for further usage. This frozen ceiling lamp adds touch of natural element into any interior, forming visually appealing décor object with soft dripping sound effect. The designers have presented the illuminating light fixture in the Greenhouse location for emerging talent at the Stockholm Furniture Fair earlier this month.
