Shaye’s Tiny Homes was started as a one-off project in 2013 when its founder Shaye Boddington wanted an affordable and eco-friendly home for her family. Her creative endeavor has now transformed into a successful, luxury tiny house manufacturer in New Zealand that offers a number of models and even customizes tiny homes to user requirements. Today, we are having a look at Hazel, one of the most popular tiny homes by the company featuring a covered deck.

Built on an 8.5m x 2.8m triple axle trailer, this two-story Hazel tiny house is a collaborative effort between Shaye and her mum Sheila, and is meant for Shaye and her daughter Hazel (who it is named after).

The Hazel tiny house has a large kitchen as big as in a regular-sized home. The kitchen features a wall oven, 4-burner gas hob, a large fridge, six cupboards, two sets of drawers, and a breakfast bar. The lounge is highlighted with a 4-seater sofa next to an extra-large, tri-folding door that brings abundant light and beautiful views indoor.

There are two separate loft bedrooms connected via a full-height catwalk. On the other hand, the bathroom is equipped with a large 900 x 900mm shower, double vanity, hidden toilet, and laundry cupboard. Other stunning design elements are the covered deck, green roof over the veranda, reclaimed timber paneling, and a green-feature wall inside.

Shaye completed the Hazel tiny house for NZD 220,800 ( approximately $140,000) in 2019. As seen in social media updates, the company is now also offering a portable deck which makes the tiny house even more spacious and different from other tiny houses on wheels.
