When you think of office chairs, the Aeron chair by Herman Miller is a name that comes to mind instantly. Now the chair gets more intriguing in new colorways. Herman Miller has officially broken its decades-long tradition of monochrome neutral tones by introducing the iconic Aeron Chair in two new, distinct colors: Jasper and Nightfall.

This update shifts away from the tight palette of cool neutrals like Carbon and Mineral that defined the chair since its 1994 debut and subsequent 2016 remastering. Driven by advances in material, Herman Miller can now apply a single, consistent tone seamlessly across both the frame and the Pellicle suspension mesh, eliminating any harsh visual contrasts.

The two newly introduced colorways:

  • Jasper: An earthy, warm olive green designed around biophilic principles to bring a natural, calming element into modern and remote workspaces
  • Nightfall: A highly anticipated, deep midnight blue tone curated to foster visual cohesion with other furniture pieces across the broader MillerKnoll spectrum

Alongside the new visual palette, the latest iteration of the Aeron Chair includes significant material updates to optimize sustainability and inclusive ergonomics. In 2021, the piece became the first chair in Herman Miller’s portfolio to use ocean-based plastics. The updated version of the chair is now composed of 50 percent recycled materials, featuring an integration of ocean-bound plastic, post-industrial recycled content, and bio-based nylon.

Now, the reimagined aluminum models consume less raw material using generative engineering tools in their construction while maintaining structurally superior integrity. The chair retains its industry-benchmark features, including the dynamic 8Z Pellicle mesh suspension system with eight independent zones of variable tension, Harmonic 2 Tilt technology, and PostureFit SL back alignment.

Keeping the ergonomics intact, the Aeron Chair still has the three-size lineup, featuring a 12-year warranty. Debuting at the Fulton Market Design in Chicago from 8-10 June, UK residents can get the chair here.
