IKEA is well known for its budget-friendly furniture, but it also focuses on accessibility to enhance the quality of life for people with special needs. Following the OMTÄNKSAM collection and ThisAbles’ 3D-printed furniture attachments, IKEA has now launched the BÄSINGEN series. Designed by Sarah Fager, this collection blends accessibility with IKEA’s signature minimalist style. It includes two step stools with rails, a shower stool, a toilet roll holder, a towel rail, and a shower shelf, offering practical support in the bathroom and other areas of the home.

The BÄSINGEN shower chair features an optimized seat height and easy-to-grab armrests that help when sitting down and getting up. The non-slip feet ensure stability while holes in the seat let water drain.

Two types of step stools make it easier to reach things high up on overhead shelves. Both of them are easy to move with easy-grip side rails and can also be used to hang towels. The non-slip step surface keeps them steady while the non-slip feet keep the stool in place.

The towel rail, toilet roll holder, and shower shelf feature a softly rounded design preventing accidents. Apart from their main functionality, all the pieces are designed to be easy to grab and function as handrails or towel rails. The non-slippery feet and holes for drainage make them a great solution for bathrooms.

BÄSINGEN series features a clean and simple Scandinavian expression in dark grey. The soft edges and diameter of the tubes are thick enough for a comfortable grip. The choice of dark anthracite color not only offers a beautiful look but also ensures they are visible in their environment.

The main idea of the BÄSINGEN collection is to offer well-designed and convenient bathroom solutions for people with physical challenges. All specially abled-friendly items from the BÄSINGEN bathroom collection are currently available online, with prices starting from $12 for the toilet roll holder.
