American designer Joe Doucet is renowned for his innovative approach that seamlessly blends function with visual appeal. Some of his notable works include the Wind Turbine Wall and Janus solid steel candleholders. In his latest project, Doucet collaborated with surface manufacturer The Good Plastic Company to create unique tables made from recycled plastic sourced from old refrigerators and electronics.

Inspired by the concept of circularity, Doucet aimed to create a bold, sculptural design that proves recycled materials can be stylish and flexible. You will be surprised that despite being made of recycled materials, it looks quite stylish due to its terrazzo-like patterned surface.

It is made from Polygood, a material that can be shaped with heat, unlike typical recycled materials. This unique property significantly helped shape Doucet’s design. Even its name, OLO, reflects the table’s elegant, sweeping semi-circular legs and seamless top designed to highlight Polygood’s unique thermoformable quality.

Polygood panels are made from 100 percent recycled plastic and are fully recyclable, supporting the circular economy. Using Polygood panels helps reduce plastic waste by turning it into functional, attractive materials with unique patterns inspired by their previous lives.

From sourcing waste plastics to manufacturing with low environmental impact, everything has been taken care of. The challenge was to go beyond what people think of recycled sheets and make it feel like art that lasts.

Crafted with precise CNC joinery, this minimalist furniture piece features two semicircular legs supporting a single tabletop. The designer aimed for the shape to embody this concept through smooth, flowing lines. The OLO table was launched at New York’s inaugural Shelter fair during NYCxDesign 2025.
