Koto ended 2021 on a high note with the introduction of its exhillerating Modular Falcon House featuring cantilevered design and has started 2022 with a bang as well. The UK-based design firm has recently announced a partnership project with the Trees at Tughall, a holiday home rental at the Northumberland coast in North East England. This retreat represents three exclusive cabins nestled within a small wood area on Tughal George Farm.
Holding expertise in making some of the highest quality prefab cabins in the UK, the three new cabins by Koto are designed with minimalism mantra in mind. Inspired by a fisherman’s shed and beach shacks, the cabins allow you to experience the natural beauty of the woods.
The three cabins are named, Ash, Hawthorn, and Willow. All three cabins are single-bed compartments named after the tree species in the woods. Whilst structurally identical, with double doors and windows, each cabin is placed at a severe range from the others. Simple and contemporary in design, the cabins feature large glazing offering a panoramic view of the forest and wild meadows.
Carrying its legacy of making cabins inspired by Scandinavian design, Koto coated the exterior in black stained welsh spruce with double doors and large window glazing allowing natural light to pass through. The interior walls and ceiling are clad in exquisitely detailed poplar plywood while the floor is made of locally sourced solid ash.
Hailed as the magnificent three, each cabin comprises a king-size bed and a kitchen equipped with a wood-burning stove. In case you are planning a long stay, a luxurious yet minimal ensuite toilet and shower are there to address your hygiene needs.

The exterior of the three cabins is dappled with sunlight passing through rustling leaves and kissing the canopy.
