Believe it or not, LG is way ahead of other exhibitors in Las Vegas this year. Whether you talk about the number of products the South Korean giant is bringing to the convention center or the way it is innovating with new tech and form factors, LG is a step ahead. This is pertinent to another path-breaking innovation in the television department. The company has unveiled an all-new OLED transparent TV, which is part décor item part television set to your liking.

LG has been redefining the wheel in home entertainment with some ahead-of-their-time TV sets. It revealed the first OLED TV almost a decade back and a wireless TV at CES in 2023. And for 2024, it is ready to combine the two, with some display innovation to go with it in the first wireless, transparent OLED TV.

Dubbed LG Signature OLED T, the TV has rightfully won the CES 2024 Best Innovation Award and is the highlight of the company’s CES TV lineup. The TV set is designed to accord a “sense of openness” and create “harmony with the surrounding interior,” which is not possible with the black screen displays we reckon as TVs.

If you’re someone who feels the black TV screen in your living room is a distraction from the home interior, and the LG rollable TV is not your cup of tea; the 77-inch LG Signature OLED T is designed for you. The completely see-through OLED TV blends naturally into your space; it allows you to see right through it, so the screen is never a hindrance to your vision. Except for when you are watching something on it.

LG has ensured the see-through design does not hamper the picture quality or TV features in any manner.  The TV is said to maintain excellent OLED brightness, contrast, and picture quality. And when you turn the TV off, the back screen is gone and you have a transparent glass in place to see beyond the TV. Powered by an Alpha 11 AI processor, the OLED T should perform with about four times more power and 70 percent faster graphics.

The LG Signature OLED T comes with LG’s Zero Connect Box, which allows all the cables, except for the power supply cable, to be removed. So, the TV delivers near wireless audio and video without the need for messy cables running to the set-top box and other peripherals. LG in the demo ran media with a school of fish swimming in ‘transparent mode’ on the TV. This for the onlookers has a 3D effect to it, which appeared as if the fish were floating around in an aquarium.

There is no guessing that the LG Signature OLED T will burn a deep hole in our pockets, but will it even be affordable? We will have to wait to know about that until mid-2024 when it is likely to go on retail.
