The only issue with the oven is its slow cooking speed, whereas the microwave lacks the power of an oven and only works for heating leftovers, for the most part. Well, not anymore. Meet Macrowave oven, a powerful cooking appliance that blends the efficiencies of these two separate devices and eliminates their shortcoming. The newest appliance by Revolution Cooking, a startup known for its premium touchscreen toaster, will be unveiled at CES 2024.

You may ask what is special about this new kitchen appliance? The Macrowave is a smart oven that packs the InstaGLO infrared heating technology (prevalent in its toaster lineup with microwave heating) and convection/air frying capabilities in one attractive package.

The Macrowave oven is the latest addition to the countertop kitchen tech realm and we must say, it does have some innovative and interesting flair. The appliance works by heating the inside of the food with electromagnetic radiation from the built-in microwave, whereas the InstaGLO infrared heating crisps and heats the outside of the food, with zero pre-heating.

Looks like the frozen foods gods have finally heard the prayers as this feature is particularly helpful in cooking frozen pizza or frozen burritos, which often remain extremely hot in the middle and not well-cooked or time and again cold on the outside. If that doesn’t sell you out on this smart cooking appliance, maybe this will: The Macrowave can cook proteins such as chicken wings, and vegetables to acquire taste quicker and more evenly. It will thaw and crisp your frozen foods to perfection.

You are probably now thinking that it isn’t the first device to merge air frying and microwave technology. You are right. But what sets the Macrowave smart oven apart from other manufacturers (however, few there may be) like LG that have brought infrared and microwave tech together is the inclusion of a smart cooking algorithm and precision heating recognition.

The smart cooking programs let the user pick a food item – say pizza, fries, or hot pockets – and adjust the precise amalgamation of infrared, microwave, and convection air for each item. Moreover, it also allows the user to combine cooking steps manually using the Micro+Bake and Micro+Air Fry modes. The user can also add an internal temperature probe for the right heating.

As if these attractive features weren’t enough, Revolution Cooking added the touchscreen navigation element to make the experience even smoother. The user can navigate the Macrowave’s large LCD touchscreen to quickly adjust settings, giving the ultimate control over the cooking process. It can toggle with various cooking and combination modes, including air fry, microwave, and bake, convection bake, broil, toast, reheat, and virtual rotisserie.

Additionally, the smart kitchen appliance comes with an assortment of accessories. These include a glass tray for microwave use, a perforate air fray basket, a wire rack, a temperature probe, and a non-stick baking sheet. There is space to stash these pans under the Macrowave when not in use.

Although there is no word on the pricing of this alluring appliance, it is expected to retail somewhere between $1,500 and $2,000. Stay tuned for more information.
