The tiny house industry keeps evolving like a pupa. Although built on the principle of downsizing, living in tiny houses doesn’t mean that you necessarily have to compromise on space and comfort. One way in which micro-dwelling manufacturers have been catering to the desire for more space within a small footprint is the slide-outs. Canada-based builder, Mint Tiny House Company, employs the rare architectural factor in its 36-foot-long lofted tiny house.

The Mint lofted tiny house is outfitted with two slid-outs to make it feel like a mansion on wheels. However, slide-outs work better with park models, so they are not designed for the road. Introduced in 2018, the Loft Edition model measures 36-foot-long and 8.5-foot-wide when in transport, whereas the width of the house expands to 12 feet in park mode.

The exterior of the micro-dwelling is board and batten siding and has a retractable awning. The dark façade contrasts the white wood interiors with high exposed beam ceilings. The customized tiny house has a living room, a ground-floor bedroom, a loft, a spa-like bathroom, and a big kitchen. The slide-outs are used to maximize space in the living room and the bedroom.

French doors open into the living room. The living room has a convertible couch that can sleep two, a coffee table, and two poufs. An oversized skylight is installed above the room to keep it well-lit during the day.

A spacious kitchen is adjacent and is outfitted with a three-burner gas range, oven, ventilation hood, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, pantry, generous countertops, and storage options. Past the kitchen, a ground-floor master bedroom is located with standing height, French doors, and a full-size wardrobe.

On the other end of the house, a complete bathroom is located. The bathroom has a laundry station with a stacked washer/dryer unit, a glass shower stall, a vanity sink, and a standard flushing toilet. Above the bathroom, a loft offers accommodation for two. The loft can be used as a guest bedroom or for storage.

The slide-outs require on-site installation to make sure they are weatherproof. The customized Mint lofted tiny house with double slide-outs costs somewhere between $120,000 and $150,000, given its configuration and amenities included. If you want something similar, you can contact the builder for a customized dwelling unit.

  1. I’m wanting to live in a 1 bed 1 bath all one level tiny home with washer and dryer in the Las Vegas NV area. Do you have any thing of that type?
