Injuries aren’t the end of life, and kindness and love can heal anyone, and this bird is living proof. Nitya, a pet lovebird parrot, experienced the joy of flying again after surviving a deadly cat attack that left her injured and unable to stand or fly. When she couldn’t fly on her own, her owner decided to be the wind under her wings.
Nitya’s parent built her a see-through vessel integrated with a drone, allowing her to venture into the sky once again. This is a story of compassion and love that binds two species.
Marc Joseph Colando, from Davao, Philippines, couldn’t stand to see his pet parrot helpless, so he made sure to give her a second chance at experiencing the sky again. He designed a custom drone with a lightweight transparent cabin attached underneath, allowing the bird to glide through the sky safely.
Reportedly, Colando got the idea during meditation. He tested the vessel and ensured that Nitya is safe, comfortable, and stress-free during each flight.
“Nitya was injured when a cat grabbed her from a friend’s shoulder. She survived and returned to short, low flights, but her toes have no coordination. She cannot stand, walk, or land properly,” Colando said to People.
He described the bird as his second heartbeat and expressed the pain of watching Nitya lose the ability to enjoy flying after the accident. This story resonated deeply with people, not only for the unusual invention but for the genuine bond they both share.
It shows the power of love and the extreme lengths people go to for their loved ones’ happiness. One such recent case was of Bebe the pet parrot, who explored the Bahamas in a submarine his owner built for him.

Ever since the video surfaced online, people have been moved by this act of generosity and creativity. Some people called it heartwarming, while others praised this life-changing innovation. This story of Nitya and her parent shows how out-of-the-box solutions can bring joy and hope, while highlighting the unshakable bond between humans and animals.
However, the view of Nitya, the parrot flying in this makeshift cabin, left people on Instagram divided. Some were concerned that the bird would suffocate despite the vessel being ventilated. Others found this to be stressful and not at all safe for the bird. It’s hard to tell whether Nitya enjoyed her flight. What do you think?
