A native of Taupo, New Zealand, Mark has constructed a beautiful off-the-grid tiny house with dazzling design elements. Mark began this DIY project after being introduced to the concept of the tiny house by his daughter. The tiny house features well-thought-out space, fine quality materials, and an impressive solar system that allows a luxurious off-the-grid lifestyle.

Each element of this small yet beautiful dwelling has been designed and handcrafted by Mark himself. Despite its small footprint, the tiny house is quite spacious and fulfills every basic need of the owner with comfort. The exterior of the tiny house has black metal and wood siding with a small modular deck.

On the roof, there are multiple solar panels, a rainwater harvesting system and a backup generator. All of these attributes offer the independence to go anywhere along with the house. The interior has clever storage spaces and eye-catching design elements.

Mark has utilized Birchwood – known for its sturdy and moisture-resistant qualities – for the construction of the floors and ceiling. The black and white color contrast of cabinets and walls create an aesthetically pleasing and welcoming vibe.

The small living room has a sofa that provides hidden storage solution and transforms into a bed too. To keep the cold of winters at bay, there is a small fireplace in the living room. Opposite the living room is the brilliant kitchen with plenty of smart storage, full-sized appliances and a dishwasher.

There is also an under-the-floor compartment for storage and soft-close cabinets and drawers. There is a television positioned above the kitchen, making it easily viewable from the living room and the breakfast nook.

Beneath the stairs, there is plenty of storage space for a pantry with pull-out drawers, a filing cabinet, and a coffee station. The stairs by the kitchen lead up to the loft bedroom featuring white walls, windows on both sides and an open closet for clothes storage.

Located through the door at the end of the kitchen, the spacious bathroom includes a shower with a sliding door, a washing machine, vanity and a composting toilet. Mark is extremely happy with his tiny house and is thrilled to explore the adventures of an off-the-grid lifestyle.
