First spotted by Germany-based website Hueblog, reliable renders of the upcoming Philips Hue smart security cameras have appeared. Two of the rumored four cameras have been approved by FCC and these cameras are expected to make debut at the forthcoming IFA Consumer Electronics Trade Show in Berlin.
Although security cameras are not new, Signify’s Philips Hue may take it to the next level. The cameras would sport a unique design, merging lights and cameras into one to build a reliable security system wherein light and alarm work in tandem to offer more visibility on intrusion.
The two, one wired and one wireless camera, Eric Rondolat, Signify CEO mentions “will be the first with end-to-end encryption.” One of the mentioned two cameras at least, hueblog notes, is equipped with a rechargeable battery and will likely work without external power supply. However, both security cameras will be outfitted with support for Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, and ZigBee connectivity.

Beyond the abovementioned USPs, the cameras Philips Hue smart cameras would feature strong magnets. The magnets may assist with the self-mounting, offering clear and right camera angles. For additional smart functionality, the cameras are expected to work with the Philips Hue system of accessories and allow control over the Hue app.
Signify may have its first security cameras peeking for launch in the Philips brand, it already has released a similar model under its Wiz branding. This may be a little hint enough to suggest that the Philips Hue security cameras will have the finesse to take on other brands. But will the pricing structure fall in well for consumers is something we should know upon release.
