A retreat, treehouse, or simply a gigantic structure – one cannot conclude much upon just taking a glance at this house. Standing nine meters tall, pre-fabricated and surrounded by lush Estonian pine forest is what closely describes the Pill Treehouse.

This harmonious treehouse made by studio Arsenit is elevated to the living space at a height of 4.25 m (13.95 ft) to minimize ground-level presence for a reason. Rendering picturesque views this cozy 19 sqm hideaway is a complete destination in itself, letting you reconnect with nature.

Standing true to its name drawn from the Estonian word ‘piiluma’ translating to ‘peeking or looking’; this monolithic dwelling lets you have an unobtrusive view of the surroundings. Vertical timber paneling on the outside offers a raw and unfinished look to the house. Timber is used as it gracefully weathers and seamlessly blends in the environs.

Experience an open-air living room that provides shelter from extreme weather conditions and a raised bedroom offering nothing but the unobstructed view of treetops. Piil gets its unusual shape by standing on ‘one leg’ to support the structure fully. Offering utility, the ‘leg’ contains a staircase, services, and a sports equipment store.

A discrete door that blends into the whole structure takes you to the first floor of the house. White oak-washed modern interiors with huge window/skylight complemented with a generous hammock mezzanine floods the house with light mid-forest.

The living area within the Piil Treehouse provides space for a bedroom, workspace, kitchenette, storage options and a fully functional bathroom with a top-lit shower. The multi-level layout provides horizontal surfaces that serve as tables, seating, or display areas.

Arsenit Studio has a vision to create four similar structures in totality with additional height to offer a more immersive experience. The Piil Treehouses will be available as glamping accommodation, as part of a micro-hotel venture.
