The Renault Trafic Escapade is a new camper van version of the Renault Trafic, designed for travel and outdoor recreation. This upgraded version features a compact module with a built-in kitchen, alongside the existing modular 7-seater layout and a sofa bed, making it a proper camper van. It simply combines the functionality of a people carrier with the features of a compact RV.

The new 2026 Trafic Escapade includes a compact kitchen box in the boot area for camper van functionality. This module includes a built-in gas cooker, a foldaway sink with a spray attachment, a 5-liter clean water tank, and plenty of storage, turning the vehicle into a cocoon on wheels.

Apart from the kitchen module, the camper van retains the existing Escapade layout featuring a total of seven seats to seamlessly serve as a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). The rear seating bench folds down into a bed, while the second-row swivel seats combine with the rear bench to create a dining lounge. A stowable central table divides these two seating rows.

Unlike the previous Trafic SpaceNomad, the Trafic Escapade camper van does not include a pop-up sleeper roof, so only two adults can sleep inside. It maintains a low profile by eliminating a sleeper roof, keeping the van’s original height intact. This design results in a lighter, stealthier camper that also functions well as an everyday MPV. There is no dedicated bathroom inside the camper van, but it has plenty of space to store a portable toilet.

Other highlighting features include an Easy Link multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, wireless
smartphone replication, easy life drawer, automatic climate control, and new generation driving
aids.

The Renault Trafic Escapade is offered in Evolution and Iconic trim levels, with a choice of two body lengths to suit different needs. Powertrain options include a 150 hp Blue dCi diesel, available with either a manual gearbox or Renault’s latest EAG9 9-speed automatic transmission, and a 170 hp Blue dCi diesel paired with the EAG9 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The Renault Trafic Escapade is marketed as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) camper van that can be used as a passenger van as well as an RV for outdoor adventures. Renault debuted it at the Van Life Expo in Bordeaux, France, and it is slated to be available in Europe in early 2026.
