There are people who have a knack for functional design and then, there are folks who love to dangle with artistic pieces. Mark Mitchell is a young British designer who does both. Mitchell presents to us a playful and functional piece of art in form of the Roll Ball Sink available in multiple finishes. The 25-year old British designer developed these unusual bathroom accessories exclusively for Italian firm Serafini.

Bringing imagination and exploration to the fore, the designer sink is for home usage but looks more of a luxury item that can be afforded by five-star restaurant owners. Although, we can’t be too sure because there is no word on the price yet. But what makes me feel, it is an item of luxury? Well, it’s obviously the playful yet functional design.

The Roll Ball Sink is made of marble extracted from multiple locations including the Rosa Corallo that is extracted from the Verona hills. It’s nuances range from pink white to gentle orange. Another finish that would breathe life to any bathroom décor is Bianco Perlino that is a light cream beige marble with delicate veining and subtle warm undertones.

Another key element that makes the sink desirable is the rolling ball coming with it. The ball spins all around the sink bowl and is a beauty to gaze at. It rolls continuously in a carved groove and creates a physical sensation that is really calming to eyes and creates a sense of harmony in the bathroom.

The rolling ball not only acts as an interactive element of the design but also functions as a sink plug. When placed in the center, it seals with a double O-ring. Mark Mitchell says, “As you explore the tactile marble sphere, you feel its coolness through your fingertips. With a gentle push, the ball smoothly revolves around the sink, returning effortlessly to your hand.”

The touch of marble makes the sink perfect for setting up a luxurious mood in a home, hotel or restaurant. The wash basin, plug and tap can be customized as per user requirements to match any style. The user can also mix and match the bowl and the ball materials.

Available in endless customization possibilities and a number of marble finishes, the Roll Ball Sink can be ordered at Serafini’s official website though, you might have to mail them personally to place the order.
