Australian father and son duo of Stuart and Cedar Anderson created a lot of buzz in 2015 with their innovative artificial beehive named Flow Hive. It is a unique self-extracting beehive that allows extracting honey without disturbing the bees and their habitat. The duo is once again back with the Flow Hive 2, which comes with all benefits of the earlier Flow Hive, and some additional features to make harvesting honey even easier. There aren’t any changes in the basic mechanism; however, they have made some improvements in the design.

Made from sustainably-sourced Western Red Cedar, the Flow Hive 2 self-extracting beehive has a harvesting shelf to place jars and a unique ventilation control system making it habitable for bees in all seasons. The Flow Super (the honey box) is designed to accommodate six Generation 2 Flow Frames.

They also redesigned the base to include two inbuilt spirit levels and a multi-functional tray which helps in pest control, as well as monitoring conditions of the beehive. Furthermore, the shingled roof and solid brass fixtures throughout the beehive add charming character to its looks.

Noticed less bees in our greenhouse and yard this year. Thought I would look into a self extracting bee hive. Are there any for sale in the Nanaimo area.
