When it comes to portable party speakers, Marshall stands tall in the sphere by offering a fine combination of style and performance. However, Soundboks has steadily emerged as a strong rival, following a similar philosphy. Its latest release that arrived just after the Marshall Bromley 450, proves this right. The new Soundboks Mix speaker mimics the approach by packing nearly all features of the bigger Soundboks 4 into a compact, easy-to-carry design.

Soundboks presents its new party speaker as a blend of powerful sound and true portability. Equipped with a 10-inch woofer and a 1.2-inch tweeter, it delivers up to 121 dB of distortion-free audio – loud enough for a group of friends to enjoy at a park or beach. Measuring 18.9 × 13.4 × 10.6 inches and weighing 21.4 lbs, it is compact enough for one person to move around easily. You can choose between the carry handle, Strap 2.0 or Backpack to carry it along with ease.

It retains nearly all features of the earlier Soundboks 4 including wide frequency range coverage, reinforced top hat, removable grill, swappable battery, silicone ball corners and carry handles. The main differences lie in size, driver setup, and connectivity. Soundboks Mix has only one 3.5 mm port for connecting external devices and you can link up to five Soundboks together for a more bigger sound.

Soundboks is known for putting strong emphasis on battery performance, and the Mix party speaker follows that trend. The company claims up to eight hours of playback at maximum volume and up to 40 hours at moderate levels. Its 40 Hz-20 kHz frequency range remains largely unchanged that delivers a clean blend of bass, vocals and instruments but may lack a bit on the low end. Equalizer is also available via the companion app, where you can customize and save sound profiles for different listening profiles.

Designed for outdoor use, Soundboks Mix Bluetooth party speaker is splashproof and weather resistant, and is termed as tough as nails by the maker. It will be available from 26th March for a price of $799, which is identical to Marshall Bromley 450.
