Our lives have been simplified with evolving innovations and technologies to suit ever-changing lifestyles better. Some inventions inspire us to new ways of living and seeing life; some make us lazy and dependent; others intrigue us and encourage healthy interaction. One such innovation is the Tether indoor lamp, a solar-powered lamp conceptualized by Leroy Merlin, in collaboration with Leemanoosh and Solar Impulse.

It is sustainable and teaches mindfulness about energy consumption. The lamp brings together the technology and the user in a shared space. It also is a powerful reminder of the role of energy efficiency in our lives.

This utilitarian lamp runs on solar power and promotes sustainability and energy awareness. The lamp body is crafted from ceramic, whereas, the soft and warm glow-emitting LED is wrapped in a soft opal plant polymer case, making it look like an aesthetic fairy light.

The traditional lamps come with an on-and-off switch, but the Tether indoor lamp is not your ordinary lighting fixture. It comes without any switches and gets integrated with a built-in recoil mechanism. The idea to do so was to promote a unique interaction between the user and innovation.

Staying true to its name which means connectivity, the cord connects the orb and the stand, making the relationship more tangible and distinctive. Its working is quite simple. You remove the orb from the stand to expose the solar panels and trigger them to charge. Place the orb on the stand by gently pulling the cord to engage the built-in recoil mechanism when you need light.

The cord and the orb hang loose on the side effortlessly when not lighted up, like a human lounging on the seaside soaking in the sun. The Tether indoor lamp boasts an elegant, energy-efficient design that with every interaction reminds us of the value of energy in the most avant-garde way.
