Naming tiny houses after things found in nature, especially birds, has become a common practice among tiny house manufacturers. The Northern Flicker is one such tiny house on wheels named after the large woodpecker bird. Built by the Vancouver-based Rewild Homes, The Northern Flicker tiny house boasts cat-friendly features, has a bay window extension for the living room, and rejoices in white and blue accents.

Measuring 36 feet in length, the compact dwelling is bathed in sunlight thanks to a myriad of windows and three skylights throughout the structure. The Northern Flicker is the company’s largest tiny house yet featuring interiors blessed with a vivacious palette. This gives it an open space feeling with white and blue wooden accents marking a sporadic presence.

The front door – which has a pet door installed – opens into the kitchen and dining area. A hidden kitty litter box is also installed. The fully-equipped kitchen has a full-sized propane range, a full-sized fridge, a microwave with a range hood duo, and a double bowl sink. A hexagonal window is installed over the sink to let in the views as you do the dishes, while a skylight pours in more natural light.

The cabinetry is custom painted with acacia butcher countertops and open shelving. A breakfast bar that can double as a workstation allows you to enjoy meals while gawking at the views outside.

On the left side of the kitchen is the spacious living room next to a bay window extension that increases the space. A sizeable skylight illuminates the area where you can place a convertible sofa bed and the ledge overhead can be used to exhibit indoor plants.

On the other side of the kitchen is the bathroom concealed behind a sliding barn door. The bathroom features a washing/dryer combo, a bathroom cabinet with a vessel sink, a composting toilet, and a shower cabin with a subway tile wall.

Past the bathroom, a small bedroom with a blue Murphy bed is located. The bedroom is accessible through a barn door and has sliding glass doors. There is plenty of storage options flanking the bed. Another skylight and a large window provide more light and fresh air.
