Every year during Christmas millions of trees are sold, and they end up in landfills after the celebration is over. Looking at the environmental aspect of it, Oxted County School alumni Joost Taylor has come up with an innovative alternative to the traditional Christmas trees. Touted ‘Timbatree’, it is a wooden Christmas tree that comes in different sizes ranging from three feet to six feet.

Wood for these festive decorations is sourced from FSC-certified Scandinavian redwood forests. He joined hands with the local carpenters for the project and created this wooden Christmas trees at his Nutfield workshop in Surrey.

The Timbatree can be easily assembled without nails and bolts. Since the tree doesn’t have any pine needles (which is the case with most traditional Christmas trees) it is fun and playful for kids and pets at home too. One can also have the decorative tree personalized with choice decorations such as pine cones, baked goodies, knitted baubles, and handcrafted ornaments.

According to Joost, these wooden Christmas trees are getting popular with environmentally conscious people for obvious reasons. Timbatree is available in three sizes: a small Christmas tree for £129, a medium-sized Christmas tree for £159, and the large Christmas tree for £229.

The best thing about Timbatree is that it can be dissembled in minutes and stored for reuse. This facet makes it more useful and eco-friendly than the Christmas trees we generally use.
