Halloween Decoration Trends for 2024 – What is In

Barbie Girl Halloween/Hippie Halloween

Call it what you will, but this trend is here to stay. Emerging last year with the live-action movie Barbie, the pink, purple, and orange themes dominated Halloween for many people. The trend also involves checkerboard patterns, bubbly fonts, and warm sunset tones that echo the season’s beauty. This year, both Target and Michaels launched cute items for all the lovers of pink Halloween, or as some are calling it Hippie Halloween. It has a retro charm with cheery and whimsical undertones that will wash out dark and brooding décor this year.

Giant Animatronics are Here to Stay

The trend for giant animatronics started at the break of the decade and has amassed fans over the years. The life-sized, fright-inducing installations range from skeletons, zombies, dogs, dragons, pirates, and witches to name a few. Most of the animatronics come with LED-lit eyes, sound- and motion-activated movements, and some even utter eerie phrases to give you goosebumps. This trend of giant animatronics – which may scare trick-or-treaters to wet their pants – is here to stay for a couple of more years. You can stock up on animatronics from Walmart or Home Depot.

Halloween Decoration Trends for 2024 – What is Out

Giant Inflatables

Giant inflatables have been quite popular for a couple of years but they are most likely not going to be part of the hot trends this year. Granted, they add larger-than-life scare to your Halloween outdoor decorations, but they lack a certain je nai se quoi that handmade décor and animatronics bring to the table. However, you don’t necessarily have to stick to the trends. If you like Halloween inflatables, you can have them for as long as you want.

Gruesome Outdoor Décor

There once was a time when bloody, gruesome, and gut-churning outdoor décor was a fan favorite. But over time, people have been shifting towards a bit merrier Halloween decorations that are not so scary. The gore of giant, over-the-top embellishments is slowly making an exeunt. It includes bloody pallet wood setups, murder scenes, and grisly mutilated figures.
