You might have seen airplanes turned into Airbnb, but a submarine as an Airbnb was probably not on your bucket list, until now. If you are still not satisfied with all the adrenaline you get from staying at exciting places, then check out this Yellow Submarine in Marton, New Zealand. The Yellow Submarine nods to the submarine shown in the Beatles’ classic 1968 eponymous animated musical film. The submarine looks like a replica of the animated submarine, hosting guests with one bedroom, double bunk beds, and a bathroom.

Gather your crew and climb aboard for the most magical time amidst the redwood trees and sprawling landscape. You can have the entire submarine to yourself for relaxing and having fun. The yellow is striking and blends in with nature. From the outside, it’s just an ordinary submarine, but inside an entirely different world unfolds, offering spaces to rest and unwind, sleep and eat.

You enter via a ramp and through the front bulkhead door into a Victorian steampunk lounge and galley. The captain of the submarine stands at the entrance to welcome you. In the living room, you will find the space cluttered with steampunk elements, like a brass-coated diving helmet, a brass-finished clock, a steam engine, and more. These hardcore elements soften down with a sofa adorned with throw pillows featuring an octopus motif. Not to mention, the two tiny circular windows and the captain’s cap make you feel like you are truly a part of an underwater expedition.

The kitchen lies at the entrance. It is small and flows effortlessly into the space. The kitchen has a countertop, some shelves and drawers, basic cutlery, and appliances. Across the kitchen, there’s a cabinet to hold extra items in the drawers. There are two barstools as well to enjoy fresh food as the adventure goes on.

From the living room, you can walk straight into the bedroom. The bedroom has two double bunk beds to fit four people, ensuring full comfort despite the compact footprint. You can sleep peacefully on the plush beds. There is a minimal wooden shelf in the bedroom for keeping your bags, clothes, and towels.

The bedroom leads you into the bathroom. Since you are living in a submarine, you can’t expect the bathroom to be lavish and spacious. Despite this, it is outfitted with necessities, including a sink, toilet, hot water supply, and toiletries. There is a skylight and a window to keep you company while you do your business.

The captain’s control room is just above the living room. The room is accessible via stairs from the living room. Here, you will find a seat, a wooden wheel, a phone, a chair, and some mechanical elements left exposed. Sit on the chair, command and lead the crew, and explore the depths of the sea as a true captain does.

You would be glad to know that you can come to the land anytime you want, with the sun-kissed patio to lounge in the sun and the back garden to explore with your family. Spending a night in the Yellow Submarine in Marton, New Zealand, will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So, drop everything you are doing and book this entire stay on Airbnb for just $120 per night.
