It’s that day of the year when Pantone garners the limelight. Recognized around the world as a leading source of color information, Pantone has announced Peach Fuzz as the color of the year 2024. Announced minutes before, the Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is described by Pantone as “a warm and cozy shade highlighting our desire for togetherness with others”.

“The color we selected to be our Pantone Color of the Year 2024 needed to express our desire to want to be close to those we love and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and just savor a moment of quiet time alone. It needed to be a color whose warm and welcoming embrace conveyed a message of compassion and empathy. One that was nurturing and whose cozy sensibility brought people together and elicited a feeling of tactility,” said the company. This also means that we bid farewell to the 2023 color of the year ‘Viva Magenta’ dubbed by the company as “Powerful and Empowering.”

In an exclusive interview with Homecrux this year, Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone revealed that the process to pick the ‘color of the year’ starts within a year before. “What are we gathering from the conversation, seeing online formulates the decision making,” she stated.

“In addition to that we have to do a lot of homework on what is happening in the world of art, technology, sports, and fashion. What color an artist gravitates to is also taken into account,” Eiseman informed.

This year’s appealing peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange is meant to reflect kindness and tenderness, communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration. As soon as Pantone dropped the color of the year, their timeline was showered with mixed comments. A user stated, “Really felt like it needed to be green”, while another user commented, “Kinda shocked to be honest…was rooting for a green shade this year.” There were some positive responses as well. “I am excited for this color. There is a lot of great colorways that will work with it,” said one instagram user.
