Faye Toogood has dropped her impressively new chair design, the Gummy chair. The name immediately reminds us of those different-colored and flavored edible gummy bears or gums holding our teeth fast and strong, depending on what you see. The chair design is something of that sort, obviously not edible, but gummy-shaped. It is fuzzy, huggable, and adorable with anthropomorphic proportions. Here, an inanimate object has been given animal/human characteristics and hugs you with its plush form.

The design is refreshingly beautiful, homely, and full of grandeur. However, what makes it special is its voluminous and enveloping shape, which underlines the shape of a bear, especially majestic fluffy grizzlies or polar bears resting, looking cuddly.

Furthermore, its fuzziness comes from its head-to-toe upholstery using traditional techniques and natural materials like ply, springs, hessian, cocolok, and wool cover. The chair has so many defining qualities, like its rounded shape with backrest and armrests that rightly support your posture and its deep, engulfing seat that gives you a warm hug, while offering comfort like none other.

The Gummy chair comes with unconventional curves and shapes that marry the form and function. And its hollow, chunky seat with a cuddly shape stresses its ergonomics. It comes in Pierre Fey fabrics including chunky wool boucle “Opio”, and “Yeti”, a fuzzy blend of wool, mohair, and long-haired alpaca.

It is also offered in a fine boucle from Yarn Collective. Not just the fabrics, but even color verities are eclectic. The colors include Ciottolo (a warm neutral), Giboulee (a two-tone mossy green), Prussiana (a deep blue-green), and many more.

The chair is crafted for indoors and any space that needs a bit of personality and drama. It has all the captivating and magnetic appeal of modern furniture. You can explore as many styles for the Gummy as you want, from an eclectic choice of fabrics to vibrant colors.

Faye Toogood wanted to design something with a lot of character that appeals to any interior, and we believe she did an exceptional job crafting this extraordinary piece of furniture. It exhibits playfulness in an unconventional configuration that keeps up with the quality and respects traditional craftsmanship.
