One day while watching random videos on YouTube, furniture maker and former NFL lineman John Malecki happened to click a video by Slovenian Woodworker which showed how to make a DIY ‘floating cave table’ using acrylic and epoxy.

Malecki instantly thought of trying his hand at creating the unique design of that optical illusion table. After plotting the dimensions, the YouTuber collected the required materials to create the Impossible Floating Cave Table.

In the video, Malecki shows how brilliantly he combines laminated wood boards and transparent crystal-clear acrylic to give it the shape of a table that seems to be floating in the mid-air. The result is an artistic piece of furniture that provides an astonishing optical illusion when you look at it from a certain distance.

You can also create a similar DIY optical illusion table for your living room. Following the step-by-step procedure shared by Malecki. Since most of us are still working from home in this COVID-19 pandemic era, it’s not a bad idea to put that extra time to build something functional and exciting.

In the video below, Malecki demonstrates every detail of this project. Scroll down to see how he brought the optical illusion table to life. You can also go through his YouTube channel to see his other equally amazing creations.
