Swedish designer Ingrid Külper created the Mattahari brand in 2007 that specializes in creating designer rugs for homes and public spaces. Recently, she won silver in the European Product Design Award for her modular carpets that can be joined together for covering larger areas. However, these carpets also won her A’ Design Award for 2016 – 2017. Dubbed as Jigsaw Puzzle rug, it consists of rhombus and hexagon-shaped pieces that can be placed alongside each other for creating a unique art piece of mat. There are different possibilities to combine the different rhomb and hexagon components to create appealing formations on your floor. Mattahari modular rugs are delivered in pieces so can be stored and transported conveniently.

There are anti-slip rubber triangles attached to its surface to keep it steady on the floor. Interestingly, it can also be used as a wall carpet to reduce disturbing sounds coming through walls. The Jigsaw Puzzle rugs come in two different colors – pink and blue. All the rugs are hand-tufted in pure NZ wool and lines are embroidered with banana fiber. The carpets are durable, sound-absorbing and comfortable to walk on. They are ideal for large rooms where they catch the eye on first sight, although they can also be used in smaller spaces.

Külper wanted to create an easy-to-transport rug that can be converted as per the size of the floor and she has done it successfully. She prepares rugs on orders, and if you wish to design a modular rug as per personal preferences, she also let customers choose size and color of their pieces.
