Grazia – A ‘sensuous’ sofa design conceived by Ryszard Mańczak

Almost looking like a furniture translation of The Rolling Stone’s iconic ‘Lips and Tongue’ insignia, the sofa is christened as Grazia. Conceived by Polish designer Ryszard Mańczak, the Grazia sofa according to the designer symbolizes ‘the form of a boat floating on a wave resembling the contour of lips.’ In essence, the overall curvaceous form of the furniture does allude to the sensuous side of affairs, which is complemented by the gorgeously black hued seat (contrasting with the ‘lip’ support in white colored composition).

Ryszard Mańczak already had his brush with the metaphysical aspects of mathematics and design, while he studied in the prestigious Marcinek secondary school in Poland. This ‘transcendental’ scope is aptly exhibited (or rather alluded) by the free-flowing embodiment of the Grazia. On the other hand, beyond its ambit of intimacy, the sofa also has a sturdy structure which nestles the soft cushion within its form, thus improving upon the comfort level (both physically and psychologically) of the user.

The Grazia was showcased at an authorized exhibition called ‘PRIVATE ATMOSPHERE’ by Ryszard Mańczak in Temporary Museum For New Design Milan 2012.
