If you find human morphology interesting and won’t mind it to be part of your home or office interior, the Anatomy Chair is exactly what you’ve been waiting for. Textile artist Pauline Kriel and costume designer Anouk Cazin have collaborated to transform traditional French dining chair into anthropomorphic piece of furniture.

This unusual chair is designed to creatively represent human body with fabric-stuffed organs and embroidery. It is a simple white wooden chair with matching cushions on seat and backrest that highlights internal human organs. Through this unusual chair, one gets virtual idea of how human respiration, blood circulation and digestion systems work effortlessly.

On the backrest, muslin-filled rib cage, lungs, heart, intestines and red fish are attached to give human body-like touch to the furniture. Fine detailed of nerves can be seen through beautiful embroidery work done at backside of the chair. The fabric has been stitched to back of the chair using a nail gun.

The chair was first exhibited in March 2015 as part of the Métiers d’Art in the Galerie de Victor Rares to appreciate inventive designs by various teams of artists, designers and craftsmen. This one is indeed a stunning piece of furniture that would go best in a room with blood-red walls, adding bizarre sense of humor to any contemporary interior.
