Mercedes-Benz Unimog is always praised for its extreme off-roading capabilities, which is why German expedition vehicle specialists at 4Wheel24 have used it for their latest rig. Named Pucchino, it is a custom micro-expedition motorhome built on a classic 1994 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U418 chassis, focusing on weight, center of gravity, and robustness to maintain overall performance. The standout feature is a permanently installed wooden cabin, paired with a lifting roof to increase standing room while minimizing drag.
The wooden cabin is combined with a steel frame to handle off-roading excursions. The exposed steel frame matches the vehicle’s overall look, with a green paint finish. 4Wheel24 has also incorporated matching green wheels and a white pop-up roof shell for vintage Land Rover styling.
The motorhome maintains a consistent low center of gravity with a compact interior height of 1.20 meters, but the lifting roof allows you to extend the standing room to over two meters. There is an electric motor system to automate the entire process of opening and closing the roof.
As highlighted by New Atlas, the motorhome can even be used when the roof is retracted, but only for sleeping. This is a great feature for many travelers who just want to sleep without setting up the entire system. The cabin also includes angled-in translucent polycarbonate panels on the upper sides to bring in natural light, even when the roof is down.
The motorhome can be accessed via a pull-out staircase. Once inside, you will find a 2.6 x 2-meter (8.5 x 6.6-ft) living area equipped with a 1.40-meter bed on one end. Next is the kitchen equipped with a cooktop, countertop space, and an under-counter 60-L fridge. There is also a bathroom furnished with a LooSeal Evo sealing toilet and shower that can be covered with a curtain for privacy.

The motorhome is equipped with a 480-watt solar panel and a Bluetti AC200L total 6250Wh battery, along with an inverter to fulfill its energy needs, while a 250-liter water tank ensures you can stay off-the-grid for a longer period. You can control lighting and electronics within the Pucchino with a smartphone. In other highlights, 4Wheel24 has upgraded the cab area with heated seats and upgraded upholstery to match the wooden cabin.
Pucchino is powered by a 315-hp 4.2-liter turbo-diesel and includes an all-wheel drive system with locking front, center, and rear differentials. From its powerful engine and portal axles to a fully equipped living space, this Unimog motorhome is built for adventurers who want to conquer challenging terrains. 4Wheel24 has exhibited the Pucchino motorhome at the CMT show in Stuttgart. If talking of its price, it roughly costs around €189,000 (approx. $223,000).
