Spanish company Let’s Pause specializes in making sustainable lighting fixtures, furniture, and accessories from leaves, roots, tree seeds, flowering pods, and other materials that are no longer playing a part in nature. Couro Lamps designed by Cecilia Ferrero are a perfect example of its offerings, which is actually a fallen palm leaf transformed into an intriguing lamp.

Let’s Pause takes an innovative approach to product design by utilizing natural fiber as the main material. At first glance, the Couro lamps seem to be made of leather, but they are not – rather they are made from leaves of American palm, with chocolate color and fibrous texture.

The company collects and transforms fallen leaves into unique sculptural lights that offer a soft and enchanting illumination. They use the steam-molding method to turn palm leaves into delicate, translucent shapes with a soft, velvety feel.

The Couro lamps are available in different versions, including floor and table lamps. From all the designs, the Couro 8-leaf version relates to nature most elegantly. It consists of eight American palm leaves arranged in the shape of a nest or artichoke. No doubt, it will look like a flower in the living room.

The entire Couro lamp collection symbolizes a fusion of nature and design – all the pieces are not mere lampshades but pieces of art. All the lamps use one to eight palm leaves to complete the design.

Each lampshade is provided with a 2.5-meter matte black cotton cord, a lamp holder, a black plug, and a brown aluminum frame. The 8-leaf Couro lamp is priced at €700 (approx. $726) at the official website. Let’s Pause has also presented some of its lamp designs at Maison&Objet 2025.
