Ecology meets technology in a unique creation by an Indian start-up, Urban Air Laboratory, which claims to have made the world’s first, state-of-the-art ‘Smart Bio-Filter’ to let you breathe fresh indoors. ‘Ubreathe Life’ is a plant-based air wellness system that is equipped with a five-layer filtration process to improve indoor air quality. It can amplify air purification whether in a hospital, school, office or at home.

The purifier effectively improves indoor air quality by removing particulate, gaseous and biological contaminants from the air. Moreover, it also increases the oxygen levels in the indoor space through its five-layer filtration.

The purifier is also aesthetically designed to enhance the décor of your home. It reduces odors, harmful gases and boosts Phytoremediation of the air and you get fresh and cleaner air to breathe.

Its five-layer filtration process includes a stack of Pre-filter, UV disinfection, charcoal filter and HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filter fitted in a specifically designed wooden box. “The technology works through the air-purifying natural leafy plant. The room-air interacts with leaves and goes to the soil-root zone where maximum pollutants are purified,” the start-up behind the project, incubated at IIT Ropar, explains.

The novel technology used in this product is the ‘Urban Munnar Effect’ along with patent-pending “Breathing Roots” to exponentially amplify the phytoremediation process of the plants. Phytoremediation is a process by which plants effectively remove pollutants from the air.

Peace Lily, Snake Plant, Spider plant were all tested in their system for air purification and all gave good results in purifying indoor air, the company has claimed. The plant-based air wellness system will cost you around Rs. 39,990 (approx $550) and can be grabbed through the official website of Ubreathe.

Ubreathe measures around 14-inches long, 14-inches wide and is about 29-inches high. The plant-based air wellness system weighs around 21kg. Ubreathe also comes with an exclusive mobile application that helps you monitor your air wellness system remotely.
