At the first sight, it is difficult to guess what you’re looking at in the picture above. This is far from a usual piece of furniture – thanks to its looped form and design – but to our surprise, this sculptural unit despite any resemblance to a chair or table serves both purposes. Inspired by calligraphy, the Segda Seat & Coffee Table is characterized by its soft curves and lines.

The Turkish design studio Nüvist has designed this unique furniture piece in the shape of a calligraphic loop line. They have used some design manipulations to add functionality to the design. The sitting section and the leg rest are crafted from a single loop.

There is no front or back in this furniture design since there is no starting or finishing point for a loop. This simply means that you can sit on both the front and rear sides. Designed in a range of colors, this inviting furniture unit has a compelling shape but the idea seems unstable to me. How do you feel about it?

There is no doubt about how Nüvist feels about its creation. Going by the creator’s word, the Segda Seat & Coffee Table is designed for everyday use but it’s also great for events like conferences or for bars and kitchens. There is no word on the price or availability but if design inspires you; you can look on as long as you want.
